Breaking News!!! Successful Completion of Electrical Installation at Smith & Nephew (PU) film PU Film Facility in Hull
Wednesday 12th October 2016
Smith & Nephew, the renowned international, medical technology corporation recently sold its facility at Gilberdyke, East Yorkshire and moved its Polyurethane (PU) film manufacturing operation to their existing base in Hull. This is part of a strategy to make the company more efficient and to reduce costs.
The project entailed electrical installation of a new PU film extrusion line, pump room, workshop and laboratory.
Working alongside main contractors, Bouygues Energies and Services, on this project, we can justifiably state that it was one of the most challenging electrical installations we have undertaken in a very long time. The work included some design input with marked up drawings, main cabling, new lighting, small port system, temporary power supplies, containment systems, and termination of switch gear.
The installation was made more difficult because the facility was created within a larger facility and surrounded by operational rooms. We worked to tight schedules, only being able to turn the power off for short periods of time with access to this sterile area, by permit only However, we are proud of the installation in this state of the art, PU film manufacturing facility despite the many challenges it presented. As most of our clients are aware, Thomas Halliwell electrical engineers love a challenge!
